Granada ends 2024 with tourism growth: 6.7 million visitors and an increase in daily spending

Granada has seen a significant boost in its tourism sector during 2024, reaching 6.7 million visitors, a 4.4% increase over the previous year. This growth was highlighted in a presentation by the President of the Granada Provincial Council, Francis Rodríguez, during the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid.

The data also shows a notable rise in overnight stays, with a 7.49% increase, bringing the total close to six million. As for spending, tourists spent an average of 92 euros daily, nearly 7 euros more than in 2023, positioning Granada above the regional average.

International tourism has been one of the main drivers of growth, with a 16.79% rise in foreign visitors, particularly from France, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. Additionally, the number of tourists at the Federico García Lorca Airport and the port of Motril was also positive, with increases of 9.1% at the airport and 70.36% in the cruise season, respectively.

The province, with a wide variety of accommodation options, continues to establish itself as one of the most important tourist destinations in southern Spain. According to the Provincial Council, tourism represents 14% of the province’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with an estimated contribution of 2.646 billion euros.

In light of these results, Francis Rodríguez highlighted the strength of the sector and the commitment of the Granada Provincial Council to continue promoting the province both nationally and internationally. In 2024, the Tourism Board’s budget increased by 50%, reflecting the effort to further position Granada as a key tourist destination.
