Brothels Raided on Costa Tropical

Officers from the Policía Nacional in Granada have arrested two women accused of operating clandestine brothels in Almuñécar and Motril.

The arrested women, aged 47 and 53, hold Paraguayan and dual Spanish-Moroccan nationalities, respectively.

Officers from Extranjería y Fronteras de Granada began their investigation by identifying the two flats used for these activities, leading to a police raid. They discovered three victims of forced prostitution from Brazil and Paraguay, along with the two ‘madams.’

Women working in these flats were sexually exploited due to their illegal status in the country, which was used to coerce them into prostitution.

The investigation revealed that the Spanish-Moroccan woman managing the Motril flat targeted women primarily from Latin America. She rented rooms to them for 200 euros per month but soon demanded 50% of their earnings. She maintained strict control over her victims using hidden cameras.

Similarly, the Paraguayan accused ran the Almuñécar flat under the same scheme, charging 200 euros per month per room plus 50% of the victims’ earnings.

Victims who did not comply faced threats of being reported to the police for their illegal status, risking deportation.

Selling sex is legal in Spain, and prostitution in Spain is not addressed by any specific law, but a number of activities related to it, such as pimping, are illegal.
