HA SIDO GALARDONADA CON EL II PREMIO GODOT 2023 A MEJOR OBRA DE DANZA POR MARIANA Y HA SIDO FINALISTA A MEJOR INTÉRPRETE FEMENINA DE DANZA EN LOS PREMIOS TALÍA, EN 2023, Y EN LOS PREMIOS MAX EN 2017 Y 2022. TAMBIÉN HA OBTENIDO EL PREMIO EL OJO CRÍTICO DE DANZA Y EL PREMIO A MEJOR INTÉRPRETE FEMENINA DE DANZA EN LOS PREMIOS LORCA 2015.

Mariana es el nombre de la cabra que acompaña al gitano errante, la del show, la que baila y le da de comer. Mariana es la mula con la que el campesino trilla, la burra de carga del azacán y la borriquilla que transporta al dios. El animal hembra es el cuerpo del trabajo, da igual la era que atraviese. En la obra, el cante alienta y anima a la fuerza productiva y el cuerpo recrea de forma libre la potencia del animal que se deja arrastrar por el compás de los órganos, como en los cantes a palo seco. Lo mueve, no la arqueología de las esencias, sino el puro deseo de encontrar la forma, el orden, la elocuencia. El cuerpo jondo derrocha energía, vida y muerte y esa es su radical y arcaica modernidad. El cuerpo jondo rompe a bailar, como las lágrimas, el sudor o la carcajada: con poderío, con vergüenza, ahí donde el proceso es tan visible como el resultado. Los lenguajes son impuros, mestizos, como todo lo que está vivo. Un baile esculpido en piedra y arcilla, esquemático, tosco y preciso como son los altares, los amuletos o las herramientas. Un baile tan abstracto y simbólico como utilitario y material. El cuerpo jondo no tiene objetivo formal, no tiene objetivo.

El cuerpo jondo tiene un imaginario tosco, primitivo y problemático.

El cuerpo jondo está arraigado:

sus raíces son móviles, están por todos lados.

Es impuro, mestizo,

siente que su vida es pequeña y eso lo engrandece.

El cuerpo jondo no es apolíneo,

propicia el ritual y la catarsis.

El cuerpo jondo es teatro.

El cuerpo jondo está tallado como una escultura primitiva,

tiene una fe secreta en su propia potencia.

La posibilidad de la muerte es su máximo atributo,

tiene miedo

y lo sufre

pero, sobre todo

lo baila.
