Las bases sobre las que se asienta nuestra obra La Violación de Lucrecia de William Shakespeare, tiene su origen en un suceso histórico ocurrido en Roma 500 años a. de C. y descrito tanto por Ovidio como por Tito Livio: la violación de una dama romana, llamada Lucrecia, por parte del príncipe Tarquino.

Dicho acontecimiento ha gozado de una importante influencia y proyección en las artes occidentales. Son muchas las obras artísticas que lo han abordado. En literatura, novelas, poemas, ensayos, piezas dramáticas, referencias en el Quijote, Lope de Vega, Calderón… En pintura y escultura nos encontramos con un buen número de obras que han tratado el tema y al que se han acercado grandes artistas como Tiziano, Rubens, Tintoretto, Lucas Granachel Viejo, Artemisa Gentileschi, etc. En música, una ópera de Benjamín Britten.

La pieza teatral que presentamos se centra en el poema La Violación de Lucrecia de William Shakespeare de 1594.

En torno a él Alfonso Zurro ha escrito y desarrollado una dramaturgia muy especial. Primero, para articularlo como monólogo femenino. Y después, abrirlo en varias líneas dramáticas que amplíen el hecho histórico y nos lo acerquen hasta nuestros días.

Lucrecia nos coloca ante la violencia y la crueldad que conlleva un acto tan terrible. Un texto límpido que desarrolla diferentes planos de acción. Al centrase en los acontecimientos narrados por la mirada de Shakespeare, provoca un efecto de perplejidad que no deja indiferente al espectador.

El tono, la economía expresiva, la firmeza del perfil del personaje, la pulcritud del lenguaje, el dolor físico y emocional de Lucrecia… todo ello, se condensa en esta pieza que describe con claridad lo que es el uso de la fuerza, el dominio y la humillación sistémica de la violación como arma machista contra la mujer.

Un espectáculo para almas incandescentes.
